Rejoicing shoulder pad revival

When I was a child and my daily uniform were t-shirt and underpants, I used to shudder in averse everytime I saw my mom wore her shoulder padded blouse or blazer. I thought it looked super ugly and ultra weird. Well, I guess I changed my mind. Apparently, the shoulder pad's revival is my favorite part of all fashion revolutions in 2009.

And this is my favorite part of shoulder pad transformation

Beside all of those awesomeness, I didn't see many people hit the malls in Surabaya wearing this pad. I think it's not that Surabayans don't like it, it's just a matter of their availability here. Oh God, we really need good supplies for our fashion starvation, so we don't need to fly to Jakarta or even invading Singapore just for shopping. Amen.

An Angel's Heart

Today, accidentally, I crashed in to someone's blog, an Indonesian who lives in Singapore. I have no idea who she is but as someone whose mother tongue is Bahasa, she wrote awesome English. That was the first reason I continued to read her blog.

As I read through from one post to another, I realized that she really has something; very wise, smart, yet kind hearted. At one post, she wrote something about the best birthday gift she got from her family in Indonesia. The gift was an edited -with her in it- picture of her little sis graduation day, a thoughtful handmade card, a love letter from her mom, and a silly heart warming birthday greeting video from the entire family. It's not the gifts that touched me but they way she appreciated it and how she illustrated about how grateful she is to has such a wonderful family. I was drifted and almost fell to tears, realizing that I haven't had those feelings for a long long time and I miss them.

And as I ran my pointer to another posts, I was coming to conclusion that this girl has an angelic heart: cheerful, grateful, and loving.

I always wondering how could someone has such a beautiful heart? Didn't they ever hurt before? I use to think that hurt people speak hurting words, battered people batter others, deceived people deceive their own friends, cheated boy/girlfriends cheat on their couple, and so on. Based on this assumption, I always think that the only pure is child, thus only child has sincerity. Because as we grow older, we hurt, battered, bruised and cheated and we decided to protect ourselves by doing the same pain we got to the others. It is sad but true.

Well, I'm not saying that everyone is evil.I believe it's very human that people make mistakes, speak wrong words, and cheat. As long as they know that they have done wrong and feel bad about it, they are good already. At the end, nobody is perfect and we don't aim to be a perfect person in life. In fact, we fall and we resurrect, we slip and we get up, we break and we make up. That's life.
